Our 4-day trip to Bologna, Rimini and San Marino for free allowed us to return to Italy, a country we try to return to every year, not only for its fascinating heritage, but also for its incredible cuisine.
This time the flight took us to Bologna, by the way one of the cheapest destinations if you fly from Girona, as is our case.
Having 4 days, we wanted to add some more visit to Bologna and we chose to go one of the days to Rimini and San Marino, taking advantage of the proximity and the perfect combination we could do by train and bus.
With a couple of days you can get to know Bologna and the most tourist and interesting areas of the city such as the Historic Center, the Bologna Window, the Asinelli and Garisenda Towers, the Abbey of Santo Stefano, stroll through the Antiques Market, the Church of San Domenico, the fantastic Piazza Maggiore, the Quadrilatero, the Basilica of San Petronio ...
The best time to travel to this area of Italy is in the months that comprise spring and autumn, not only for having a more stable climate, but also for the hours of sun, which allow us to lengthen the days more.
We went in mid-October and had a fairly stable time, less in San Marino, which received us with a fog so intense that it did not let us see two meters in front of us, something that blurred the day a little, but that decided us to think that we have to return one day to see this little country with nothing that obscures its streets.

By chance I found this page looking for information about Bologna. We are going to get away for a weekend in June, and stay casually in the same hotel.
Thanks for the information, it will come great.
